By the banks of Babylon they hung their harps up high,
Then the children of Jerusalem hung their heads to cry,
They could not sing their songs to God, 'cause there was no joy inside,
But then the Lord remembered them,
He broke their cords and forgave their sin,
And brought them back to Jerusalem to rebuild their broken lives!
Get your harp down from the willow tree,
Come on and praise His name with me!
You're no longer in captivity,
So get your harp down with me!
By the power of sin and death Satan held us bound,
And to our one last dying breath, fear was all around,
We could not give our lives to God, 'cause life could not be found,
But then the Lord remembered men,
He broke our cords and forgave our sin,
When He died at Jerusalem to renew our broken lives!
Now put away that sorry face I see,
God gave our hearts a brand new start,
So get down your harp with me!
